Myles, Eleven.

My mother and i when inside the house. She went to the kitchen to start on dinner and i went off to find my father. I found him sitting in the living room with the news paper up in front of him. I use to love sitting with him while he read the paper. I would sit with him for hours and hours, while he read every word, every paragraph, every page. "Hello dad." i said quietly. He looked over his paper at me and gave me a tender smile, "Hi hunny, what's up?" he asked. "Nothing just wanted to say goodnight." "Oh, your going to bed? But we haven't had dinner yet." "I know but i really tired, its ok isn't it?" I said with pleading eyes. "Of course it is sweetie, goodnight." I leaned over and gave him a kiss on the cheek, then head of my room for a nice nights sleep.
I wanted to sleep in the next day, but my mother just wouldn't have it i suppose, because she was pounding on my door yelling for me to get up. "I'm up, I'm up, I'm up." i wailed as i was pulled from my slumber. I decided i wanted to go for a run, even though i wasn't big on the idea of running i still felt like i needed to go. I found a pair of blue jean shorts and a black T-shirt with some bleach stains on it. I eyed it for a second, but put it on anyway. I didn't know if i actually had any sneakers but i look for a bit and found an old pair in the corner of my room, then i went down stairs to find my mother. She said it was ok with her, she just made me promise to eat when i got back.
I started out the front door. It was an over cast day and rain was coming soon. I could smell it in the air. The road was littered with puddles. I continued non the less. I passed the path to my favorite spot, and the path to the pond. I was closing in on the old house down the road. It rose before me as i got closer and closer. Standing there quietly and still unnoticed, just as it always had. My foot steps carried me passed it, just like they had taken me from my house and passed the paths. I didn't look back, i kept my pace steady. I was half way to the road when my silence was interrupted.
I heard a roaring noise coming from Myles house. It grew louder, then stopped. I stopped running and listened. The noise began once again and this time with louder then before. The sound grew and grew, then i saw where this sound was coming from. Myles charged down the drive way. He was on a shabby looking four wheeler and it didn't look as if he were going to slow down. I had stopped running and was watching him doughnuts. Me standing there must of caught his eye for a second, because he stopped spinning in the sand and gazed at me. I blinked at him and then i turned back to my jogging course. I heard the motor rev, and i knew he was coming up behind me. I don't know how i knew, but i did. I ran faster, not that it made a difference. He had an engine, and i had a pair of legs.
I wasn't watching where i was going now. Every other step my foot landed in a puddle and my shoes were getting soaked. Right as a jumped over a massive puddle, a heard the engine rev once again. I stopped and turned to find Myles coming right at me. He was going full speed, then at the last minute he went off to the side, curved behind me completely drenching my back. Then passed me on his way back around. Unfortunately for me he came to close for my comfort and i fell backwards into the huge puddle. I heard a snicker pass over his lips and with that last sound from him, he revved the motor and was gone.
I sat in the sullied trench. I was cold, wet, and then to top it all off... the rain started to come down. It poured from the sky as if buckets were being dumped from the clouds. I screamed and splashed my fists into the water. Dirty water droplets splattered on to my face. I ground my fists deeper into the soft mud in the bottom of the puddle. Great day, i thought sarcastically.

this scene is really crucial to the story, i think. It does a good job of showing Myles's tendency towards mental instability. Also, i like it because it makes me think of the sort of semi-serious fights you have with people...you know, when you want them to stop bugging you and they won't, and you fight back, but you don't know how hard you can fight? You have to be careful not to hurt them while still holding them back? that kind of thing. i hate when that happens, because i always feel helpless. I can't even use all of my strength, how am i supposed to stop this?
